Hill Dickinson’s IT team was spending an increasing amount of time managing the backup process, while the physical hardware was nearing end of life. A library of more than 4,500 physical tapes needed indexing, storing and securely transporting between sites, taking up more than half a day in man hours every week. There was also a never-ending requirement for more storage space. Failing tape drives meant more on-site call-outs for engineers, and incomplete backups required time-consuming remedial action to cover the business risk.
When backups encroached on the business day, Hill Dickinson sought a cloud solution in line with the firm’s strategic aims.
